Robert Mugabe (1924-) is the current President of Zimbabwe and leader of the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF). He is the Zimbabwe's 2nd president, succeeding former President Canaan Banana in 1987. Prior to his presidency, he held the post of Prime Minister, effectively serving as Zimbabwe's national leader since 1980.
