President proclaims four-day Bank Holiday with the suspension of banking transactions and gold and currency exports.

Congress passes the Emergency Banking Act.

Congress passes the Reforestation Relief Act, establishing the Civilian Conservation Corps

The President announces US departure from the gold standard.
