Naval aviator [r]: One who is rated as a member of an aircrew that operates from an aircraft carrier, including pilots, naval flight officers, and enlisted aviation technicians; there is an implication that the "true" aviators operate from ships at sea; term can encompass crews of land-based aircraft for specifically naval missions ^[e]
