Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab (c. 1702–c. 1791) was the founder of [[Wahhabism, a socially conservative branch of Sunni [[Islam. In 1744, he formed a key alliance with [[Muhammad ibn Saud, the founder of the House of Saud, which rules [[Saudi Arabia.
