How to upload and place images

Step one: do exactly what this page says

People peruse Citizendium for media to reuse—this page does more than just host the image for your article. All media not in accordance with Citizendium's media policies policies are subject to speedy deletion by constables acting on their own recognizance. If you do exactly what this page says, you will almost always avoid problems.

Step two: document your image

Select, copy, and then paste the text below, exactly as shown, into the Summary form below, and follow the directions. Everything to the right of the equals signs (=) describes what you need to do.

{{

Information

|Description= Replace this sentence with a detailed description of the media you are uploading.

|Source= Replace this sentence with *exact* data about where you got the image, usually a webpage such as http://www.acmemuseum.org/collections/history/sahara.html. People *must* be able to verify the data as found at the image's source.

|Date= Replace this sentence with the date the photo was taken, if known; or, Estimated: [Date]

|Author= Replace this sentence with info about who took the photo and/or who holds or held the copyright (MUST be a real name or official entity). Add any verifying links that may be available.

|Permission= Replace this sentence with "See licensing data below" (w/o quotes) if you choose a license from the drop down list below (recommended); or, replace this sentence with the license template you were guided to make by following Step three, making sure the license/copyright/permission data you add matches with the data from the media's source; or, write out the license data.

|other_versions= If there is another file format or derivative or related image of this on Citizendium, add the link here [[:Image:my_picture.jpg]] and delete all of the text this side of the equals (=) sign. If not, leave the preceding sentence alone but remove this one.

Select the appropriate license from the drop-down list below (recommended); OR, visit the license tags collection and hand-select the license (you can find out about available operants there too). New to all these licensing options? We recommend you start with a basic intro about Creative Commons licenses.
