MBDA is now a multinational European aerospace and military manufacturer. Originally Italian, it has three major owners: BAE Systems (37.5%), EADS (37.5%) and Finmeccanica (25%). y. In 2008, the Group recorded a turnover of 2.7 billion euros, produced over 3,000 missiles and achieved an order book of 11.9 billion euros. MBDA works with over 90 armed forces worldwide.

It was formed December 2001, from the merger of the main missile producers in France, Italy and Great Britain. German participation came with acquisition of EADS' German subsidiary, LFK, in March 2006.
