Life Legal Defense Foundation
The Legal Life Defense Foundation defines its mission as giving "...innocent and helpless human beings of any age, particularly unborn children, a trained and committed defense against the threat of death, and to support their advocates in the nation’s courtrooms. LLDF will accomplish its mission and purpose through the law and education." Based on reporting for the fiscal year ending in December 2008, they received a four-star charity eficiency rating. Executive Director Cody was paid $68,683. [2]
They oppose embryonic stem cell research, whether the cells come from discarded embryos or not, but support work using adult and umbilical cord stem cells. Citing Terri Schiavo's "imposed death by dehydration and starvation", they object to medical determinations of futile care. In cooperation with the National Right to Life Committee, they distribute "pro-life advance directives", but discourage "living wills", which they consider to encourage the denial of treatment. [3]
