Joseph Kony (born around 1961) is a Ugandan rebel leader and the target of a 2012 media campaign which sets out to capture him. He led the Lord's Resistance Army for a while; whilst doing this he committed such atrocities as forcing children to murder their parents and beating them to death if they did not comply with his requests, which generally centred around them fighting for him.

He was reported to have taken many of his females captives as wives against their will, and in the course of his attempt to take over Uganda killed, injured and purged as many as two million people.[1]
