The Immaculate Conception of Mary, also called the Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Christian doctrine asserting that Mary (mother of Jesus) the mother of Jesus of Nazareth, was herself conceived without Original Sin.

It is often confused with the doctrine of the Virgin Birth.
