'Georgia on My Mind' is the state song of the U.S. state of Georgia. It was written in 1930 by Hoagy Carmichael but it was Ray Charles's now iconic 1960 blues version that made the song a number one hit. Other important covers are Willie Nelson's 1978 country version, also a number one hit, and Doc Severinsen's trumpet instrumental used as the theme of the television sitcom Designing Women.

In 2005 Jamie Foxx and Alicia Keys performed a new arrangement by Quincy Jones at the Grammy Awards in tribute to Ray Charles.
