The DFG or Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (English: German Research Foundation) is a German organization that supports research at universities and other research institutions by funding. The DFG is based in Bonn.

The DFG supports research projects in science and the humanities as well as cooperation between researchers of all disciplines. The DFG itself is funded by the federal government and the states of Germany. The legal status of the DFG is that of a private association. It is mainly headed by its president. Together with the secretary general he leads the executive board, which is responsible for the foundation's daily business.

The DFG is comparable to the NSF in the USA.
