A branch of mathematics concerned with obscuring information and then controlling who can retrieve the information.
A science related closely to mathematics and computer science. Cryptography is concerned with the security of information, typically contained in some message. Standard goals of cryptographic systems are hiding the content of a message (confidentiality), ensuring that the message has not been changed (integrity), or that the apparent sender and the real sender coincide (authenticity).
