Carne gasada is a savory Mexican stew. It is tradionally served with tortillas and pinto beans.

Ingredients

1 round steak, cut into bite size pieces 1 tsp. shortening 1 tsp. cumin 1 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 sm. can tomato sauce 2 tbsp. flour Salt and pepper to taste

Cooking directions Brown the steak in the shortening. Cover the meat with water and add the tomato sauce. Simmer for 2-3 hours until tender. Add cumin, garlic, salt and pepper. Mix flour and water and add this mixture to thicken the stew and cook for an additional fifteen minutes. Serve with flour tortillas and pinto beans.
