Student Comments and Questions

Just as a heads up I added two more of my articles to the table and will now have three total. Also Is there anyway we can briefly go over copyright stuff in class. I dont want to break any laws or anything. --Brian R. Head 17:26, 16 March 2008 (CDT)

Start an Eduzendium article

This tool looks great! Although most students for this class should already have their articles started, we could add it for any stragglers. Would definitely be useful for future classes, at the very least. -- Sarah R. Taylor 12:40, 3 March 2008 (CST)

This may be very useful, since it

  • Automates article creation
  • Automates placement of Category:Eduzendium, {{EZtalk}}, and {{EZarticle-closed}}. Because the latter or the equivalent is not atop all class articles, a few have already been collaboratively edited. I myself have made this error because the article lacked notice
  • Prevents accidental deletion. Several of this class's articles have been inadvertently deleted because they lacked notice; luckily so far, they have been noticed in the deletion log and undeleted, but that's entirely avoidable
  • Guides about CZ's article naming conventions. Several articles have had to be renamed, lacking this

I've tested it and it works - you can just click the buttons, below, to see what it does.

If there is interest it can be placed on the course homepage or on a subpage.

The below could be customized in seconds to use {{EZarticle}} for EZ articles that allow collaborative editing.

STEP 1. Add your article name where it says "Article name" (leave the /Talk part alone)
Example naming conventions:
  • Human evolution (use this naming convention for a topic article)
  • Charles Darwin (use this naming convention for a biography article)
  • Origin of Species (use this naming convention for an article about a book)

Now click the button "Prep your article!" then follow the directions that will appear (all you'll have to do is click "Save page" and return here).

STEP 2 - Add just the article name where it says "Article name" and click "Start your article!" (Make sure you type it exactly as you did before)

Another useful template

You all may also find the following useful (I would have added it to the main course page if I'd seen an obvious place for it). J. Noel Chiappa 09:54, 10 March 2008

If you want to make sure no other Citizendium authors or editors does anything to your article while you are working on it, add this text: "{{EZarticle-closed-auto‎}}" (just what's inside the "'s) just below the "{{Subpages}}" at the top of your article. It produces this notice:

This article is currently being developed as part of an Eduzendium student project. If you are not involved with this project, please refrain from collaboratively developing it until this notice is removed.
Articles that lack this notice, including many Eduzendium ones, welcome your collaboration!

Deletion

HelIo.

I am going to delete my article Shore-Based Scenario because I am going to cover the topic in the article Survival of the Fattest. --Brian R. Head 13:24, 17 April 2008 (CDT)
