Basidiomycota is a phylum, of the kingdom fungi, which is most associated with macroscopic fungi such as mushrooms, but also some microscopic fungi, including the important rust fungi and smut plant pathogens, and some yeasts. [1] It includes perhaps one-third of the known fungi.
