Alan Hale, Sr. was an American actor known for his many character roles. He was a frequent supporting player in many Errol Flynn films, and famously played the role of 'Little John' in three separate Robin Hood films, under leading men Douglass Fairbanks, Jr., Errol Flynn and John Derek.
He was known simply as Alan Hale before his lookalike son Alan Hale, Jr. rose to prominence as an actor
