A tendency of the avant–garde, first appearing at the end of World War II, transposed nature into its purely plastic values (lines and color). These artworks represented a new form of impressionism which are characterized by their search for a vibrant, chromatic atmosphere, which brought their work close to the impressionistic tradition.
