Van Halen was one of the most popular rock bands of the 70s and 80s. The band's name derives from the last name of two brothers who founded the band, Eddie Van Halen, arguably one of the best lead guitar players of all time, and his brother Alex Van Halen, the band's drummer. The band was originally fronted by lead singer David Lee Roth, who was subsequently replaced by Sammy Hagar. The band's founding bassist, Michael Anthony, was recently replaced by Wolfgang Van Halen. With Hagar as lead singer, the band is often referred to as Van Hagar to distinguish it from the original lineup.
