Having been born in the mid-eighties in East-Africa to Dutch parents, I spent my childhood in a multilingual, multicultural and multinational environment, not to mention an exceedingly pleasant climate. This was followed by several years spent in Copenhagen's cooler air and after completing high-school in Denmark (of the International Baccalaureate variety), sights were set on my ancestral Netherlands for my higher education.
In keeping with my international orientation I chose to attend a newish English-language liberal arts undergraduate college (namely the University College Utrecht), achieving my bachelor of science after three years. During this time I focused upon biomedical/biochemical subjects, with a side-track in philosophy (my sanity-hedge).
Since then I have been attending the first four year graduate entry medical program (American style) in the Netherlands, namely the SUMMA-program also in Utrecht, making it my second consecutive participation in a Dutch pedagogical experiment to date. During these years I was obviously exposed to all subjects medical as well as their practical implementation. Additionally, I have developed a special interest in orthopedics and medical outcomes research. With less than a year of med-school remaining and most importantly with most of my time-consuming clinical rotations behind me, I find myself with both the time and the desire to contribute to the development and growth of this community, especially in the health sciences and biological fields.
