After spending some time employed as a computer programmer in the late 90's and early 2000's I went back to school in 2002, studying physics and pure mathematics. I obtained Bachelor's degrees in both fields in 2006 (BSc First Class Honours in Physics; BSc With Distinction in Pure Mathematics) and am now a graduate student at the Institute for Quantum Information Science at the University of Calgary. My current research is primarily related to quantum optics and its applications in quantum communication, and I have also spent time working with magnetohydrodynamic numerical simulations in astrophysics and with multiple projects in general relativity (for which I have a real fondness despite focusing my work elsewhere right now).
