Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) was an award-winning American writer. His work includes plays Our Town (Pulitzer) and The Skin of our Teeth (Pulitzer), and novels The Bridge of San Luis Rey (Pulitzer) and The Eighth Day (U.S. National Book Award). He also write a noteworthy introduction to Gertrude Stein's 1947 book Four in America, providing an insightful analysis of Stein's approach to literature.
