The sport of football in Brazil is administered by the Brazilian Football Confederation (Confederação Brasileira de Futebol; CBF). Brazil became a member of CONMEBOL in 1916 and of FIFA in 1923. To 2018, the Brazilian team has the most successful record in the FIFA World Cup, having won the tournament five times and been runners-up twice. The most famous Brazilian footballer is Pelé, widely considered the greatest-ever player in world football; during his career, Brazil won three World Cups (1958, 1962 and 1970). Other famous Brazilians are Garrincha, Cafu and Ronaldo.
