FAT MAN was the code name for the second nuclear weapon used in the nuclear attacks against Japan warfare. It was a plutonium implosion device, with a yield of approximately 12 kilotons. Its target was Nagasaki, Japan on 9 August 1945.

An identical device had been exploded in the TRINITY test in the United States, to confirm the technology actually worked.
