I have difficulty with the definition given. The common definition of prosody is the theory and practice of versification (OED). The definition in the article is esoteric, and leaves little room for the development of a proper article. --Martin Wyatt (talk) 20:05, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

Yes, it does look pretty academic, doesn't it? I have come across it as referring to speech intonation, but I've always understood the ordinary meaning as covering the metre of verse. The question is whether that counts as a particular subtopic of the "esoteric" definition, in which case it could be included in the article, or whether we need a disambiguation.
