Dear Milton,

Thank you for reaching out to HowStuffWorks.com. We have no objections to your use of the images in your article. Please give credit in a form similar to “Courtesy of HowStuffWorks.com” somewhere in the publication.

Best,

================================

Dear Sir/Madam:

I am a retired chemical engineer in the United States and would like permission to use two images from your website in an article that we have written about chemistry in the Citizendium online, free encyclopedia. Copies of the specific images are attached below and were obtained obtained from your website pages at http://science.howstuffworks.com/atom.htm and http://science.howstuffworks.com/atom2.htm. The article we have written is available at http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Chemistry.

Citizendium is a non-profit, free online encyclopedia. Volunteer editors, including university professors and other experts, review all articles before they receive final approval. Unpaid volunteer authors, like myself, must be vetted and approved before they can contribute any articles and all authors must use their real names. You may visit the Citizendium at http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/Main_Page to learn more.

If you would grant us the permission to use the images as a public educational service, we would be most grateful. We would prefer the photos be released under a Creative Commons (CC) license ( see http://creativecommons.org/license/ ), but will gladly accept the terms with which you are most comfortable.

Your images will be viewable worldwide and will be conspicuously labeled "CC Image: HowStuffWorks" (or any other name that you specify). If at any time in the future you request the photos' removal, such request will be honored.

Assuming that permission is granted, I will need to receive an email stating that permission is granted. We are not otherwise allowed to use images or photos.

Thanking you for your consideration, I am

Milton Beychok
