Penthouse (magazine) [r]: A mens' magazine first published in the U.K. in 1965 by Bob Guccione, but primarily considered a U.S. publication, competing with Playboy with both erotica (photographic and pin-up art) and lifestyle articles; its editorial and marketing strategy has been to go farther into the changing standards of acceptable erotica than Playboy; some of its content meets many definitions of hard-core pornography
