Since the units on the axes of this diagram (graph) are on a per kilogram (kg) basis, the quantities represented by the axes are specific enthalpy vs. specific entropy, which are intensive properties or quantities. Specific enthalpy is often designated by a small h and specific entropy by a small s. Enthalpy (designated by a capital H) and entropy (designated by a capital S) are the corresponding extensive properties, which have similar units, but kg is left out of the unit denominators.
