Strategy -- how do we know?

"Primarily to avoid a month of adverts by Republicans attacking the plan, Obama tried but failed to get consensus on the bill before the summer recess started at the end of July 2009.", I think, needs to be sourced. Howard C. Berkowitz 21:59, 2 August 2009 (UTC)

Yes, it is rather speculative. I can't remember where I heard that the Republicans have a big anti-Obamacare campaign lined up for August - and it's not a great leap of logic to presume that getting the vote out of the way before the recess would be potentially advantageous for Obama. That said, on reflection, we should probably leave this out until the bill is actually voted on. –Tom Morris 22:06, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
As you may have observed on another page, I've been emphatic about speculation on the right; neutrality requires it everywhere. Mind you, I tend to regard the spectrum as a Moebius strip rather than a straight line.
It should be possible, however, to find a reasonable source for such things, one with access to political staff thinking. Howard C. Berkowitz 22:16, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
