RAF rankings

Good stuff. This may be hearsay, but apparently BBC weather forecasters hold ranks equivalent to RAF officers. I find it hard to believe that this is literally true (I don't think anyone was supposed to salute Michael Fish) but a note on the truth of it might find a place somewhere.
