Patrick S. Malone, Ph.D., holds a B.S. in Psychology from Duke University and Ph.D. in Social Psychology, with a strong minor in Research Methods and Statistics, from the University of Texas at Austin. Most of his career to date has been spent at Duke University, first as visiting faculty in psychology and, since 1996, in various research positions. His current position is as a Research Scientist in Duke's Center for Child and Family Policy, where his primary role is to contribute methodological and statistical expertise to research on predicting and preventing child and adolescent behavior problems (primarily substance abuse and violence), in addition to conducting original research on statistical methods. In the Fall of 2007, he will take a position as Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina at Columbia. In this position, he will focus on the development and application of sophisticated data analytic methods for social science research, and will be teaching topics in social and quantitative psychology at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
