Enciclomedia is a Mexican multimedia digital educational computer network which provides lesson backup for 5th and 6th graders and is planned to be extended to other grades. The idea is to raise standards in Mexican education by having immediate access to approximately 20,000 items of information, including film clips and 3-dimensional images. The efficacy of computers in education is disputed, although Enciclomedia can be seen as a teaching aid.
Criticisms
The project has been criticised as lacking specific markers of success and checks to see if such indicators have been met. It's also been questioned whether proper accounting procedures have been put in place, as there have been significant cost overruns.
