Maine (U.S. state)

Maine is a state in the northeastern United States and has an estimated population of 1,274,923 people (as of the year 2000.) Augusta is the state's capital, although Portland is the state's largest city. Also, Maine is a part of the New England region (of the U.S.) and was at one time a part of the state of Massachusetts.
