Shahnameh (Farsi:شاهنامه), or Book of Kings, is a Persian epic by the poet Ferdowsi. Shahnameh was written, between the years 975 and 1010 CE, in almost pure Persian, helping to revive the Persian language ("Parsi," or the Arabicised "Farsi") after Arabic conquest of the Persian empire and the Arabic script and language were imposed on the Islamic world.
