Gular scales

In snakes, gulars are the scales in the throat area or ventral surface of the neck. The term may also refer to other scales in this area that do not have any other designation.[1] Wright and Wright (1957) describe them as being located below the jaw and between the sublabials, chin shields and ventral scales.[2]
