Note on Jazz Suite No. 2

Two different works by Shostakovich are often referred to by this title. The authentic one, in three movements, was lost for decades. A piano score eventually turned up and was reorchestrated and recorded. In the mean time, another work, in eight movements, correctly known as Suite for Variety Orchestra, was misidentified as Jazz Suite No. 2. Even after the facts were discovered, recordings and performances of this work are still often given the incorrect title.
