Danny Boyle (born 1956) is a British film director from Manchester, England, best known for the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire (2008) and Trainspotting (1996). Other works include his highly-acclaimed directorial debut, Shallow Grave (1994), A Life Less Ordinary (1997), The Beach (2000) and 28 Days Later (2002).

Boyle is known for working with tried and tested groups both behind and in front of the camera. Most of the production team and several actors on Shallow Grave, for instance, worked with Boyle on Trainspotting, notably screenwriter John Hodge, producer Andrew Macdonald and actor Ewan McGregor. Boyle has worked on a range of film genres; for instance, while Shallow Grave is a black comedy and horror thriller, 2007's Sunshine is a science-fiction film.
