Summary

Title / Description

Depiction of the grid-based raster data format. Note that the dotted lines indicate boundaries between cells--in a true raster grid, no such lines would occur, as the cell itself is the smallest unit. Also note how reducing the cell size would allow smaller features to be depicted, or more detail along the edges of the larger features. This is why the cell resolution determines the smallest detectable spatial feature. Compare this to the example vector image.
