Matthew Ota is an amateur astronomer who lives in Long Beach, California.
He is a standing member and former board officer of the Orange County Astronomers, a non-profit amateur astronomy organization based in Orange County, California.
He was a former volunteer telescope operator at the Mount Wilson Observatory from 2001-2009 with the Telescopes In Education Foundation and the Mount Wilson Observatory.
From 2004 to 2008 he participated as a volunteer in the Cassini Huygens mission to Saturn with JPL’s Saturn Observation Campaign outreach program.
He has held a lifelong interest in the space program and has collected a substantial library of books on the topics of space exploration and astronomy.
