I was born and raised on the shores of Lake Erie in Vermilion, Ohio. In May 2006 I graduated from Vermilion High School and then spent my freshman year at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. This year I transferred to Grinnell College, a small liberal arts school in central Iowa. I am a philosophy major with a particular interest in epistemology, but I try to maintain broad academic interests. Other disciplines which especially interest me include geography, political science, history, and religion. For the past six years I have worked at Romp's Water Port in Vermilion, but this summer I hope to intern with either an animal welfare group or human rights organization.
As a practicing Buddhist my spiritual practice is the most important part of my life, and currently discerning truth is the primary facet my practice. Consequently, I have come to view education as more of a lifestyle as opposed to a four year pursuit.
For the sake of full disclosure, I primarily associate myself politically with the Green Party, and have eagerly watched and participated in the presidential campaigns of Dennis Kucinich and Ron Paul. Also, I am an ethical vegan and am actively involved in the Animal Rights Movement. That said, I believe granting all view points equal credibility is a necessary component of open-mindedness, and also believe that neutrality is essential to the success of a credible wiki-encyclopedia.
