Originally HDRs were yellow, unfortunately experience in Afghanistan showed that meals were the same colour as cluster bombs, causing the change to Salmon. The contents of all Humanitarian daily rations include:
  • At least 2200 Kilocalories.
  • 2 vegetarian entrees.
  • fruit paste suitable to be used as baby food.
  • A book of matches

They must all be able to be stored for 36 months at 80 degrees Fahrenheit. And they must be able to be air-dropped, without a parachute.
