I intend to maintain this article on Citizendium. I brought it in from Wikipedia, where I had been one of its editors. The source for most of the material was the public domain Dictionary of American Naval Fighting Ships. The table at the top of the article is based on similar tables in Wikipedia; I've modified it slightly for CZ.

When I brought the article to CZ, I improved the headings in the table and rewrote several paragraphs. Louis F. Sander 13:34, 24 April 2007 (CDT)
