I started out my professional life as a research chemist. I have always had a keen interest in science and medicine and I really enjoyed working in the lab, but I became concerned about the longterm health risks of being exposed to low levels of carcinogenic chemicals on a daily basis, and decided to supplement my education by learning how to program.
I have been programming now for many years in a variety of languages, Pascal, C and C++ to name a few. I have worked on a wide variety of projects for a wide variety of companies.
I have an interest in programming topics and human interface design.
My proudest achievement in life is my two sons.
I have a strong interest in cancer research in general, and pediatric brain tumors in particular. My interest in these topics began after my niece died in 1996 at the age of 4 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. My oldest son is doing well right now after being diagnosed in 2003 at age 9 with a malignant brain tumor.
I am one of several longtime moderators of an 800-member online support group for the parents of children with brain tumors.
