Definitive Collection: Mini LP Replica CD Box Set is a twelve compact disc box set collection by England|English rock group Led Zeppelin, released by Rhino Entertainment in the US on 4 November 2008. Prior to this release, these mini LP replica CDs were only available as individual releases from Japan. OverviewIssued in the United States to coincide with Led Zeppelin's 40th anniversary of it's first shows in 1968, the mini-LP replica CD boxed set includes the chronologically ordered digitally remastered editions of Led Zeppelin (album)|Led Zeppelin (1969), Led Zeppelin II (1969), Led Zeppelin III (1970), Led Zeppelin IV (1971), Houses of the Holy (1973), Physical Graffiti (1975), Presence (1976), The Song Remains the Same (album)|The Song Remains the Same (1976), In Through the Out Door (1979), and Coda (album)|Coda (1982). The two disc remastered edition of the film soundtrack The Song Remains the Same, also has bonus tracks.[1] The sleeves included in the boxed set feature the original LP album artwork, with the original lettering of the group's debut, which used turquoise print on the cover for the band's name and the Atlantic Records logo. Later printings used orange ink, making the first a rare collector's item. The orange sleeve is included with the boxed set as a bonus sleeve. Led Zeppelin III features the gatefold sleeve with the rotatable laminated card disc, while Physical Graffiti, features the interchanging window illustrations from the original LP jacket that included four covers made up of two inners, a middle insert cover and an outer cover. Additionally, the set includes all six covers released for In Through the Out Door, Led Zeppelin's final studio album. The In Through the Out Door covers feature different photos of the same bar scene taken from different perspectives. Each individual CD is housed within the mini-replica of the original album release, with two mini album sleeves, one paper and one cellophane. The CDs are collectively housed in a gloss black cardboard box with the enigmatic Led Zeppelin IV symbols engraved on the binding, the front and the back, respectively. The Japanese edition was released in the high-fidelity SHM-CD (Super High Material) format and limited to 2000 sets only.[2] The boxed set peaked at Number 23 on the Japanese Oricon albums chart.[3]
