'''Formatting help''' "Cymraeg" is the Welsh word for "Welsh," consequently, it should be translated and moved to the bottom. I'm too tired to do it now myself. Anyone else game? [[User:Justin Anthony Knapp|Justin Anthony Knapp]] 04:02, 14 June 2008 (CDT)

Revision as of 03:02, 14 June 2008

A problem about this list is that it gauges the interest only among people with CZ accounts. Most of the many people--it must be dozens--who have written to me to ask whether we'll have CZ in this language or that in fact lack accounts. --Larry Sanger 09:10, 17 September 2007 (CDT)

OK. I replied to other points on Larry's talk page about this back-of-an-envelope idea of mine. But I think we should start with who we have rather than people who might never sign up anyway. Perhaps it would be better to ensure that the initial group of contributors to the new wiki are on the English one as well, so those of us who aren't speakers of that language have some idea of what they're doing in the early stages, and so that we have people who are trustworthy. This is particularly important with a language like Japanese, where thanks to the writing system, others will have no idea what the content of the pages is. I think an internal gauge is a good idea because it can indicate who already knows the system well and can potentially play a role in helping things start up. BTW, I can handle myself fairly in several languages, but not with enough confidence to put my name up.  —Stephen Ewen (Talk) 02:09, 21 September 2007 (CDT)
Ditto Stephen. I'm happy to write drafts/point of departure stubs if it's helpful. Aleta Curry 17:57, 21 November 2007 (CST)

Not visible enough

This page is too difficult to find. It should be linked from FAQ, Home and perhaps even the Main Page. May I add the links? --Dejan Papež 05:51, 29 December 2007 (CST)

I agree. Doing it myself. (be bold!) Yuval Langer 16:25, 9 January 2008 (CST)
I don't actually see this link anywhere. Could be me. I'm not getting enough sleep. Aleta Curry 17:44, 15 February 2008 (CST)

Come on! Allons! Other exhortations meaning let's get off our butts!

Okay, everybody, it's been discussed for over a year.

Now I have drafted a proposal at http://en.citizendium.org/wiki/CZ:Proposals/Internationalisation_sandbox thanks to Larry's new proposal initiative.

So come on over and join the discussion.

What language? When to start? Are you willing to be an editor in your own language?

Enough talk: If we're really serious about CZ International, let's put on our thinking caps and just do it! Aleta Curry 15:59, 14 February 2008 (CST)

As long as deep consequential policy decisions aren't made once and forever at this point, I'm very hip to this whole effort. Thanks & well done, Aleta. --Larry Sanger 19:20, 14 February 2008 (CST)

My pleasure, Larry. Well, I now think I've done as much as I can for the project, at least for the time being. I've tallied the responses thus far and requested a driver. (I'm sort of the de facto driver, but I don't think that's very satisfactory, since I'm only completely fluent in English. Everything else is rusty through neglect. Pity, really, considering all those years I spent studying French. But I digress.)
So, if this is to come to fruition, the international folks will have to pick up the ball and start running. Hope they do, 'cause I believe this is worthwhile.
