I was born in Havana, Cuba in 1941. At 15 I joined the Brothers of Christian Schools Institute (De La Salle) to teach poor children . At 19 I left the brotherhood to fight for social justice in freedom, joining the Movement for Recuperating the Revolution (MRR) created by former anti-Batista guerrilla fighters. I spent 13 years as Castro's political prisoner.
I arrived in Key West on May 15, 1980 as part of the highly publicized Freedom Flotilla, starting a fresh life in Vancouver, WA picking blueberries and the like and as a janitor while attending English as a Second Language in Clark College. On June 9, 1983 I was the salutatorian in my commencement exercises. I got Clark College Student Recognition Award and others by grades and community services. I transferred to UT-A where I got my bachelors degree in accounting. I moved to Miami, FL in 1987 and attended graduate school at FIU. I sat for the CPA Exam and eventually became one. I'm an active member of the Florida Institute of CPAs and the Association of Cuban Accountants in Exile.
I worked for several companies until I created my own firm.
