I'm a semi-retired ESL/EFL teacher. My teaching career has taken me from central Africa to the Middle East, northern Europe, the USA and finally back to Canada. I have a BA in Psychology/History/French, an honours-level diploma in teaching English as a second/foreign language, and a Master's in Second-language Teaching. As well as the above-mentioned qualifications in applied linguistics, I've taken courses, over the decades, in theoretical linguistics, at the under-graduate level (by correspondence from the U of South Africa), and later at the graduate level (Université Laval). Areas of linguistics I'm particularly interested in are: language change, language acquisition, typology.
Areas of interest beyond that of language: history (philosophy; ideas; religion), and comparative literature.
