== Explaining my editing of the lede ==
Howard, I felt that the first sentence should include a parenthetical explanation that "gunpowder" includes "black powder" and "smokeless powder" because they were both mentioned a bit further into the lede without explaining that that they were sub-classes of gunpowder.
I also deleted the use of gunpowder in rocket motors because I assume you were referring to the very ancient use in rockets by the Chinese and others ... readers might assume that gunpowder was used as a propellant in modern rocket motors.
Other than that, I think the rest of my edits are self-explanatory. I hope that what I have done is useful.
One other point, I really don't like linking of words in a section to the following sub-sections of the that same section, as you have done with [[#black powder|black]] and [[#smokeless powder|smokeless powder]]. The reader can see the subsections a few sentences later quite easily without needing the linking. However, that is simply a preference of mine that I don't feel too strongly about. Explaining my editing of the lede

One other point, I really don't like linking of words in a section to the following sub-sections of the that same section, as you have done with black and smokeless powder. The reader can see the subsections a few sentences later quite easily without needing the linking. However, that is simply a preference of mine that I don't feel too strongly about.
