Welcome!
Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Hayford Peirce 17:46, 11 March 2009 (UTC)
Under the computers/network hat, I was one of the first CSSIs in 1993.
Lots of military things of interest, blurring into intelligence (still military workgroup) and on into law.
Random list of things you might like to review/extend:
- Special reconnaissance, controlling close support to ground forces, go-onto-location-in-space, go-onto-target, AN/MSQ-77*, forward air controller, precision-guided munition; there are lots of individual articles, of various lengths, on individual munitions and electronics (see AN/).
- Computer networking reference models, Internet Protocol Suite, Domain Name System (and subarticles), anycasting, Internet Protocol, Internet Protocol version 4, Internet Protocol version 6 (and subarticles)
- Eduction, interrogation, elicitation, human-source intelligence, debriefing; there are also a developing series of country- and time-specific areas
When you look for a piece of military electronics, AN/XXX-99, for indexing reasons, the article will be XXX-99. I did a little trickery to make it appear AN/MSQ-77.
