Born and raised in The Netherlands. After my primary and secondary education, I studied Chemical Technology at the Technical University Delft. After I obtained my Masters of Science degree, I fulfilled my military service as Ground Liaison Officer.
My first employment was with a large engineering and construction firm, where I held successive positions as (lead) process engineer, process control specialist and process safety specialist. During that period, I spend one year in the USA as part of a rotational assignment at a sister office in New Jersey.
Three years ago, I joined an international engineering and consultancy firm, where I hold the position of consultant safety and risk management. Currently I am chairman of all Cyclic Safety Studies (including Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) studies and Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA)) at one of the largest refineries in Europe.
