My formal education resulted in a M.Sc. equivalent degree in computer science with a minor in physics ("Diplom-Informatiker") from the Universität Kaiserslautern in Germany and a doctorate in computer science ("Dr. rer. nat.") from the Technische Universität München. I have a wide interest in history and the natural sciences, and are reasonably well read in these topics.
